I like to run, mainly 10k or thereabouts, and I have run the "World's Best 10k" on the Moscoso Bridge here in San Juan a couple of times.  2004 was my best time in a 10k since I got back into running in my middle age - 47:34.  I pulled a muscle in the 2005 running, about 3 km into the run.  I hope this isn't a taste of aging to come.

This year I ran my first, and probaly last, marathon.  My 50th birthday coincided with the 108th Boston Marathon, and through the kindness of the folks at Borinquen Runners, I got an invitational entry.  I could not have qualified on time.  It was an experience - by the Friday after the race I could walk again without wincing.  I had been concerned before the race with my knees (which are in horrible shape), and 10 days before the race I tore a muscle in my calf - I forget the name, but aparently it is not an important muscle.  I couldn't walk without pain until the day before the race.  I'm probably too old for all this.  Anyway, as it happened, my knees and calves were fine, no problems.  My quads, however, were a different story.  Too many hills.  A horrible pace, but I finished.

I should add that the first 15k were the most fun I have ever had running.  Boston is special, no question, and the crowds were everything people say they are.
